Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday said Ukraine is using its battle-tested drone expertise to help five countries in the Middle East and Gulf region defend against Iranian drone attacks.
Zelenskyy noted that the United States and several European nations have also requested Ukrainian support, underscoring Kyiv’s growing role in global security beyond Europe. He added that Ukraine is considering whether it can contribute to restoring security in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping route threatened by the Iran conflict.
Ukraine has become a leading producer of cheap and effective drone interceptors during its war with Russia. These innovations are now being shared with allies facing similar threats, strengthening military cooperation and expanding Ukraine’s influence.
The announcement highlights Ukraine’s transformation from a war-torn nation into a global provider of defense expertise, extending its battlefield innovations to international partners confronting Iranian drone strikes.
