US lawmakers have introduced a bipartisan resolution reaffirming the importance of the India–US partnership, underscoring cooperation across defense, trade, technology, and counterterrorism. The resolution reflects strong support from both Democrats and Republicans for advancing ties with India.
The initiative, led by Representatives Ami Bera and Joe Wilson along with 24 original cosponsors, highlights shared democratic values and the strategic role of India in promoting regional stability and a free and open Indo-Pacific. Lawmakers emphasized that successive US administrations have consistently strengthened relations with India over the past three decades.
The resolution calls for continued collaboration on counterterrorism, including the swift prosecution of those responsible for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, and references the recent Pahalgam attack in April 2025. It also stresses the need to expand cooperation in education, innovation, and economic growth.
Representatives noted that bipartisan support for India–US ties demonstrates the enduring commitment of Congress to advancing this strategic partnership. They reiterated that the relationship is vital for global security, prosperity, and the defense of democratic values.
