SRINAGAR, October 31, 2025 — The Jammu and Kashmir Government has disclosed that a total of 631 individuals from outside the Union Territory have purchased land across J&K since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019.
Responding to a question in the Legislative Assembly, officials stated that land valued at over Rs 130 crore has been acquired by non-residents in both the Jammu and Kashmir regions.
In the Jammu division, 378 non-local buyers purchased approximately 212 kanal, 13 marla, and 128 square feet of land, with a total estimated value of Rs 90.48 crore.
Meanwhile, in the Kashmir division, 253 non-residents acquired around 173 kanal and 7 marla of land, amounting to Rs 39.49 crore.
This marks a significant shift in land ownership patterns following the constitutional changes that now permit individuals from outside the region to own property in Jammu and Kashmir.
The government emphasized that all transactions were conducted in accordance with legal procedures and reflect growing investment interest in the Union Territory.
