India created history at the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) 24‑Hour Asia and Oceania Championships 2026 in Hirosaki, Japan, clinching five medals across individual and team events.
In the men’s individual category, Amar Singh Devanda won gold with 282.881 km, Geeno Antony secured silver with 272.894 km, and Saurav Kumar Ranjan claimed bronze with 260.058 km, completing a rare podium sweep for India.
The men’s team combined total of 815.833 km earned them the team gold, reaffirming India’s dominance in ultrarunning. Japan and Australia finished with silver and bronze respectively.
India’s women’s team added to the tally with a bronze medal, recording a combined 667.722 km. Tenzin Dolma led the effort, finishing fourth individually with 228.939 km.
The event, held from May 23–24, featured 81 athletes from nine federations. India’s performance marked its third consecutive Asia‑Oceania title after victories in 2022 and 2024.
Athletics Federation of India hailed the achievement as “History for Indian Ultra Running… Champions of Asia‑Oceania yet again,” celebrating the country’s growing stature in endurance sports.
