Lucknow, Jun 23: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended four officials in connection with the recent fire incident in Lucknow that claimed multiple lives and caused extensive damage.
Officials said the suspensions were ordered after preliminary investigations revealed lapses in safety compliance and negligence in enforcement of fire safety norms.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed strict action against those found guilty and assured that accountability will be fixed at every level. He emphasized that negligence in public safety cannot be tolerated.
Meanwhile, police have arrested four accused in connection with the incident. The arrests include building owners and contractors who allegedly failed to adhere to safety guidelines.
Authorities confirmed that further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire and to identify additional lapses.
The state government has also announced compensation for the families of the victims and directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
Fire safety audits across commercial and residential complexes in Lucknow have been ordered to prevent recurrence of such tragedies.
