New Delhi/Doha, Jun 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a condolence call from Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following the tragic Ras Laffan gas plant blast that claimed the lives of 12 Indian nationals. The Amir expressed deep sorrow over the incident and conveyed solidarity with the bereaved families.
PM Modi thanked the Amir for his condolences and assured that India is working closely with Qatari authorities to ensure support for the victims’ families, including repatriation of mortal remains. He emphasized that the welfare of Indian workers abroad remains a top priority for the government.
The Ras Laffan accident, one of the deadliest industrial incidents in recent times, has prompted heightened safety reviews at the facility. Both governments have pledged cooperation in investigating the cause of the blast and strengthening worker safety measures.
The exchange of condolences underscores the close ties between India and Qatar, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding expatriate communities and enhancing bilateral cooperation.
