One terrorist was killed in an ongoing anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after security forces engaged militants during a night-long encounter.
The gunfight began late Tuesday in the Arhama area following specific intelligence inputs about suspicious movement in the region, prompting a joint cordon-and-search operation by the Army, J&K Police and CRPF.
Security officials said intermittent firing continued through the night as forces tightened the cordon around the suspected hideout, leading to the elimination of one terrorist.
The operation remains underway as troops continue combing the area to ensure no additional militants are present.
Authorities have heightened security in the region, noting that the encounter is part of ongoing efforts to counter militant activity in central Kashmir.
