Baramulla Police have strongly refuted viral social media claims alleging a militant attack and cancellation of the Amarnath Yatra, calling them false, baseless, and malicious attempts to spread panic.
Officials clarified that no attack or firing took place in Baramulla, and the Amarnath Yatra remains scheduled from July 3 to August 28, 2026. The police emphasized that such fabricated content is aimed at disturbing public tranquillity and undermining confidence during the pilgrimage.
An FIR has been registered, and strict legal action is underway against those responsible for spreading disinformation. Citizens are urged to rely only on official government and police channels for updates and avoid forwarding unverified content.
The police statement reassured the public that security and logistical arrangements for the Yatra remain intact, with multi-layered deployment and surveillance measures already in place.
