The Ministry of Communication has announced that the Government successfully prevented cyber fraud losses amounting to more than ₹600 crore in the last six months, aided by the Financial Risk Intelligence (FRI) system. Officials stated that the initiative reflects India’s strengthened digital security framework and proactive measures to safeguard citizens against online financial crimes.
According to the ministry, the FRI platform has enabled real-time monitoring, early detection, and swift response to suspicious transactions, thereby curbing large-scale fraud attempts. The system integrates data analytics and inter-agency coordination to ensure rapid intervention and protection of vulnerable accounts.
Authorities emphasized that the achievement underscores the government’s commitment to building a secure digital ecosystem, especially as online transactions continue to expand across banking, e-commerce, and digital payments. The ministry highlighted that collaboration with financial institutions and telecom operators has been critical in blocking fraudulent activities.
Officials noted that the success of the FRI system demonstrates the importance of technology-driven solutions in combating cybercrime. They added that ongoing efforts will focus on further strengthening digital infrastructure, enhancing public awareness, and expanding the scope of fraud detection mechanisms.
The ministry concluded that the prevention of over ₹600 crore in potential losses marks a significant milestone in India’s fight against cyber fraud, reinforcing trust in digital platforms and financial systems.
