Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, aged 92, passed away on April 12 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multi-organ failure. Her last rites will be performed today, April 13, at 4 PM at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, with full state honours.
Before the cremation, her mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at her Casa Grande residence in Lower Parel from 10:30 AM to 2 PM. Political leaders, Bollywood personalities including AR Rahman and Shraddha Kapoor, and thousands of admirers are expected to pay their respects. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited her residence yesterday to offer condolences. Asha Bhosle, recipient of the Padma Vibhushan and Guinness World Record holder for most recorded songs, leaves behind a seven-decade-long legacy that transformed Indian cinema and music. Her son has requested fans not to overcrowd the cremation ground to ensure smooth proceedings as India bids farewell to its beloved ‘Asha Tai’.
