Jammu & Kashmir, November 3, 2025 — The Jammu and Kashmir Government is facing a significant financial backlog, with ₹4,468 crore in pending retirement dues owed to former employees, according to official sources.
The dues include unpaid pension benefits, gratuity, and other retirement-related entitlements that have accumulated over the years. The delay has caused concern among retired government personnel and their families, many of whom rely on these payments for essential living expenses.
Officials from the Finance Department acknowledged the outstanding liabilities and stated that steps are being taken to streamline disbursements and prioritize payments based on urgency and seniority.
Employee unions have urged the administration to expedite the clearance process and ensure that retirees receive their rightful dues without further delay. They have also called for greater transparency and accountability in the pension management system.
The government is reportedly exploring budgetary adjustments and financial restructuring to address the issue, while also reviewing policies to prevent future accumulation of retirement liabilities.
