Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) opens new avenues for trade, investment, and innovation, marking a historic step in strengthening bilateral economic ties.
He emphasized that the pact will boost exports, attract investments, and encourage collaboration in emerging sectors such as technology, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing.
Goyal noted that the agreement provides Indian businesses, including MSMEs, greater access to UK markets while ensuring balanced safeguards for domestic industries.
The minister highlighted that the FTA will create opportunities for startups and innovators, fostering joint ventures and research partnerships between India and the UK.
Officials expect the deal to help double bilateral trade to $100 billion by 2030, positioning India as a stronger global economic partner while aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
By opening new corridors of cooperation, the India–UK FTA is seen as a landmark achievement that will deepen strategic ties and accelerate India’s economic growth trajectory.
