Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) platform has helped fast-track projects worth over 85 lakh crore rupees during the past 10 years. He made the remarks while chairing the 50th PRAGATI meeting, which reviewed key infrastructure projects across sectors including roads, railways, power, water resources, and coal.
The Prime Minister described PRAGATI as a symbol of deep transformation in India’s governance culture, highlighting its role in breaking silos and promoting cooperative federalism. He emphasized that the platform has ensured timely delivery of projects and improved grievance redressal mechanisms, thereby enhancing ease of living and ease of doing business.
Outlining his vision for the next phase of governance, Modi stressed the mantra of “Reform to Simplify, Perform to Deliver, Transform to Impact.” He explained that reforms must simplify procedures, performance must ensure timely delivery, and transformation must be measured by the impact felt by citizens in their daily lives.
During the meeting, five major projects worth more than 40,000 crore rupees were reviewed. The Prime Minister underlined the importance of technology in every phase of project life cycles, making governance more transparent, efficient, and outcome-driven.
He also urged states to institutionalize PRAGATI-like mechanisms at their level, particularly in social sectors, to ensure faster resolution of issues and better service delivery to citizens. Modi said that PRAGATI has become a vital tool in strengthening the governance framework and accelerating India’s development agenda.
