Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma has urged the government to grant enhanced risk allowance to Jammu & Kashmir Police, recognizing their frontline role in counter-insurgency and anti-terror operations.
Sharma raised the demand after visiting the family of State Investigation Agency Inspector Asrar Ul Haq, who was killed in the Nowgam Police Station blast. He conveyed condolences and assured the bereaved family that the nation stands with them, as directed by the Union Home Minister.
Highlighting the extraordinary risks faced by J&K Police personnel, Sharma emphasized that the force requires updated welfare measures and enhanced allowances to reflect the dangers they confront daily.
Reports indicate that J&K Police currently receive meager risk allowance compared to other security forces deployed in the region, despite operating under similar or greater threats. Sharma reiterated that the sacrifices of police officers must be recognized through fair and inclusive welfare policies.
He called upon the government to prioritize the welfare and safety of Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel, ensuring that their dedication and service are adequately supported.
