Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday announced a new round of sanctions targeting Russian companies involved in the production of missiles, drones and related military components, as Kyiv steps up efforts to weaken Moscow’s war-making capabilities.
In a statement, Zelenskyy said the sanctions are aimed at firms and entities that support Russia’s aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. He stressed that cutting supply chains and financial flows to such companies is essential to reduce the intensity of missile and drone strikes.
The new measures include restrictions on assets, business operations and international cooperation with the sanctioned firms. Ukrainian authorities said the list would be shared with international partners to encourage coordinated action.
Zelenskyy called on Western allies to expand their own sanctions regimes, saying that sustained pressure on Russia’s defence industry is key to protecting civilian lives and forcing Moscow to reconsider its aggression.
Ukraine has repeatedly urged stronger global sanctions as Russia continues to deploy missiles and drones against residential areas, energy facilities and other civilian targets amid the ongoing conflict.
