New Delhi, November 12, 2025: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today held a pre-budget consultation with representatives of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in preparation for the Union Budget 2026-27. The meeting was part of a series of stakeholder engagements aimed at ensuring inclusive and broad-based policy formulation.
During the discussions, MSME stakeholders presented their views on credit access, taxation, infrastructure support, and digital transformation. They emphasized the need for measures to strengthen competitiveness, enhance employment generation, and promote sustainable growth within the sector.
The Finance Minister assured participants that their inputs would be carefully considered in the upcoming budget. She highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs as engines of innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation, noting their critical role in India’s economic resilience.
“The MSME sector is vital to India’s growth story. The government remains committed to addressing its challenges and enabling its expansion through targeted policy measures,” said Finance Minister Sitharaman.
The consultation concluded with a reaffirmation of the government’s focus on inclusive development and its resolve to incorporate stakeholder perspectives in shaping the Union Budget 2026-27.
