Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday met Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil in New Delhi to discuss key irrigation and drinking water projects of the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought the Centre’s support for expediting approvals and funding for several pending and proposed projects aimed at strengthening irrigation infrastructure and ensuring adequate drinking water supply across Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu highlighted the importance of timely completion of major and medium irrigation projects to support farmers, improve agricultural productivity and address water scarcity in drought-prone regions of the state.
The discussion also focused on drinking water schemes, with the Chief Minister emphasising the need for sustained central assistance to provide safe and potable water to rural and urban populations.
Union Minister C. R. Patil assured the Chief Minister of the Centre’s cooperation and said the Ministry would examine the proposals in detail and extend support in accordance with guidelines and priorities.
The meeting underscored the state government’s emphasis on water security as a critical component of development and its efforts to work closely with the Centre to accelerate key infrastructure projects.
