Srinagar, November 21 — Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified inspections across the Valley to prevent the misuse of sensitive materials, officials confirmed on Friday. The move comes as part of a broader security strategy aimed at curbing potential threats and ensuring public safety.
Authorities said special teams have been deployed to conduct surprise checks in markets, warehouses, and transport hubs. The inspections focus on monitoring the sale, storage, and movement of items that could be diverted for unlawful purposes.
Senior police officers emphasised that the initiative is preventive in nature and seeks to strengthen vigilance against misuse of chemicals, explosives, and other restricted materials. They added that strict action will be taken against violators found in possession of such items without proper authorization.
Officials noted that the intensified drive is being coordinated with district administrations and intelligence agencies to ensure comprehensive coverage. Public awareness campaigns are also being launched to encourage cooperation and reporting of suspicious activities.
The Valley-wide inspections reflect the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, safeguarding communities, and preventing any attempt to exploit sensitive materials for disruptive activities.
