The Indian Navy Chief has expressed optimism about Bangladesh, referring to it as a ‘friend’ nation, and stated that the country is likely to see a positive turnaround following its forthcoming elections. He highlighted that the elections are expected to bring political stability, which would pave the way for stronger governance and development initiatives. Emphasizing the long-standing bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh, he said that the two countries have collaborated extensively in areas such as trade, infrastructure, security, and regional connectivity.
The Navy Chief also underscored the importance of maritime cooperation, noting that joint efforts in the Bay of Bengal are crucial for enhancing regional security, monitoring sea lanes, and promoting economic opportunities such as shipping, fisheries, and energy exploration. He expressed confidence that political stability in Bangladesh would create a favorable environment for expanded collaboration in defense and strategic affairs, including joint naval exercises, information sharing, and capacity building.
Further, he highlighted the significance of people-to-people ties, cultural exchanges, and educational cooperation in strengthening the friendship between the two nations. The Navy Chief called for continued engagement and dialogue to ensure that the post-election period in Bangladesh leads to socio-economic development, regional peace, and mutually beneficial partnerships. He concluded by expressing hope that the strengthened relationship would contribute to stability and prosperity in South Asia as a whole.
