New Delhi, November 5, 2025 — Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced that more than 25 lakh pensioners have successfully adopted face authentication technology for generating their Digital Life Certificates, marking a significant milestone in citizen-centric governance.
The initiative, led by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, aims to simplify the annual verification process for pensioners, especially senior citizens and those residing in remote areas.
Face authentication uses Aadhaar-based biometric verification through mobile devices, eliminating the need for physical visits to banks or pension offices. The technology ensures secure, contactless, and real-time validation of identity.
Dr. Singh highlighted that the adoption reflects growing trust in digital public infrastructure and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.” He also praised the role of Common Service Centres (CSCs) and outreach campaigns in driving awareness and accessibility.
The government plans to further expand the service by integrating it with other pension platforms and enhancing multilingual support to reach wider demographics.
