Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended warm greetings to citizens across the country on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri and several regional festivals including Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Cheti Chand. He prayed for prosperity, discipline, peace, and positive energy for all, invoking the blessings of Goddess Shailaputri and linking the celebrations to the collective resolve for a Viksit Bharat.
In his message, the Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam and a devotional hymn dedicated to Goddess Shailaputri, marking the beginning of the nine-day Navratri festival. He emphasized that the divine energy of the Goddess inspires discipline and devotion, values that strengthen the nation’s journey towards development.
Alongside Navratri, PM Modi extended wishes for Gudi Padwa, celebrated in Maharashtra as the new year; Ugadi, observed in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka; and Cheti Chand, marking the Sindhi community’s new year. He highlighted the cultural unity of India, noting that these festivals symbolize renewal, positivity, and shared traditions across regions.
Chaitra Navratri, which begins today and culminates on March 27 with Ram Navami, is considered highly significant as it coincides with the Hindu New Year in many parts of the country. Devotees observe Ghatasthapana, fasting, prayers, and devotional songs during the nine days, honoring the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
By greeting people on diverse festivals, PM Modi reinforced the spirit of national unity and cultural pluralism. His message combined spiritual devotion with developmental aspirations, reminding citizens to embrace discipline, positivity, and collective progress as India steps into a new year of cultural and spiritual renewal.
