New Delhi, December 30, 2025: The Government of India today announced a series of telecom reforms aimed at strengthening security and easing compliance for manufacturers and service providers. The measures were unveiled by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications.
Key reforms include the extension of the Pro Tem Security Certification Scheme for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) by two years, ensuring robust verification of telecom equipment while simplifying compliance requirements. In addition, fees for Telecom Security Testing Laboratories (TSTLs) have been reduced to encourage wider participation and lower regulatory costs.
Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that the reforms are aligned with the vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ and will support indigenous manufacturing, innovation, and secure telecom infrastructure. The measures are also expected to accelerate product rollouts and enhance ease of doing business in the sector.
Officials emphasized that the reforms reinforce India’s commitment to building a secure and resilient telecom ecosystem while providing industry stakeholders with greater flexibility and reduced compliance burdens.
The announcement marks a significant step in balancing national security priorities with industry growth, positioning India as a competitive player in the global telecom market.
