Pakistan has issued 737 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims to attend the annual festival commemorating the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji from June 10–19, 2026.
The pilgrims will visit historic gurdwaras including Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib, and Kartarpur Sahib during their journey.
Out of 561 passports submitted by the SGPC Jatha, 541 visas were approved while 20 were denied. The group departs from Amritsar on June 10.
This pilgrimage is facilitated under the 1974 Bilateral Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, allowing Sikh devotees to access sacred sites in Pakistan despite strained relations between the two nations.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, was martyred in 1606 and is remembered as the first martyr in Sikh history, symbolizing resilience and devotion.
