Five Indian nationals have been arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, for allegedly abducting three Indian tourists and demanding ransom payments. The suspects were identified as Avtar Singh, Jagjit Singh, Rambalak Kumar, Sukhbir Singh, and Kulra Singh. They reportedly lured the victims with a fake low-cost holiday package to Pattaya, where the tourists were held captive in a townhouse.
The victims — Mohit, Ashish, and Himanshu — were tied, gagged, and tortured while being forced to call relatives in India to demand ransom amounts ranging from ₹40–70 lakh, allegedly to be paid in cryptocurrency. A Pakistani national based in Dubai is believed to be the mastermind, coordinating the operation remotely.
Thai police raided the property on July 28, 2026, rescuing the victims after the Indian Embassy alerted authorities with video evidence of the captives. The arrests highlight growing concerns about cross-border crime, fraudulent travel packages, and the use of cryptocurrency in ransom demands.
